Classes techniques III (1 week)
With Jamie Wright

When: Monday to Friday from 10 :30 a.m. to noon
Description: Jamie's contemporary class stands at the crossroads between Cunningham, Limon and release techniques. Drawing on elements of space, weight and momentum, the dancer discovers a dynamic, active alignment, while developing spatial awareness, precise placement and increased range of motion and mobility. Technically rigorous, the class seeks to increase strength in the dancer while also teaching how to use that strength efficiently without overworking muscularly.

The class progresses through a variety of standing exercises, floorwork and travelling jumps, to finally culminate in a choreographic combination designed to increase the dancer's capacity to integrate learned movement principles with new interpretive possibilities.

• Professionnels de la danse (en forfait et à la carte)

Master class with Irene Dowd/Horizons

When: Monday to Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Description: The purpose of this course is to refine the expressive and functional usage of our extremities with reference to self, ground and other people. Participants will learn “Horizons” a warm-up choreography that involves extravagant variations in the relationships between hands and eyes. Students will be introduced to the anatomical potential of the arms, hands, head and upper spine. Together, we will explore adaptable strategies for communicating the dramatic intent behind the specific gestures being performed.
