Sophie Corriveau biography

Passionate about dance since she was a child, Sophie Corriveau is currently a performer, instructor and coach. After studying at the l'École supérieure de danse du Québec, she began her career at the Theatre Ballet of Canada, and then joined Montréal Danse from 1989-1993. At these two companies, she met many inspiring choreographers, including Natsu Nakajima, Paul-André Fortier, Daniel Léveillé, Françoise Sullivan and James Kudelka. In 1993, she worked with Danièle Desnoyers and participated in several Le Carré des Lombes projects in Canada and abroad. As an independent performer, she has also worked with Bill Douglas, Tassy Teekman, Harold Rhéaume, Alain Francoeur, Sylvain Émard, Jean-Pierre Perreault, Catherine Tardif and Louise Bédard. Ms. Corriveau has been keenly interested in teaching and coaching since the beginning of her career. She currently teaches at LADMMI, l'école de danse contemporaine, and coaches for Daniel Léveillé danse and Le Carré des Lombes.

Sophie Corriveau teaches barre classes to 2nd year students and graduates as well as the course Techniques de danse contemporaine VI for 2nd year students, graduates and dance professionals.
