Lucy M. May biography

Since beginning her training in contemporary dance and ballet at Dance Fredericton (1992-2003), and later — following professional studies at LADMMI (2003-2006) and Rotterdamse Dansacademie (2006-2007) — Lucy has rarely refused an opportunity to expand her definition as a dance artist. She has taken, by turns, roles in pedagogy, direction, performance and creation. These have included assisting Sylvain LaFortune's Cours de portés; directing The Powerplant Family's first collective exhibition and :::HAND|EYE::: Co.; dancing for Danse KparK, Meyer-Chaffaud Dance Company, Cie Capriole, Out of Proportion Dance Theatre, Cie Lucie Gregoire and Sidra Bell through Springboard Dance Montreal 2008. Lucy values site-specific research and, in her own creations, interdisciplinary exchange, leading her to work with film-makers, videographers, visual artists, textile-workers and many musicians. Presently, she is interpreting the work of emerging choreographer Melissa Reymond, is dancing as an apprentice with Cie Montréal Danse, and is very pleased to return to LADMMI as part of its faculty.
