About the media center
The LADMMI media centre houses a collection of more than 2,000 documents, which include reference works, videos, monographs, periodicals, CDs, DVDs, photos of LADMMI performances, educational kits, videos of choreographies from the contemporary repertory, press clippings, and various other documents. Since 2006, the LADMMI media centre has specialized in acquiring works from the Quebec repertory from the 1950s to recent times. The media centre has acquired a large number of videos presenting the choreographic repertory of contemporary dance companies in Montreal thanks to the generosity of numerous donors, including Linda Rabin, Tassy Teekman, Pierre Lapointe, Alex MacSween, Myriam Belzile and the Borough of Outremont.

Collection
Our collection is mostly comprised of audiovisual works (DVD, video cassettes), but is also made up of books, periodicals, subject files and archives of many school productions, starting from the school’s foundation in 1981. The media library is made up of captations of contemporary choreographies from here and elsewhere, documentaries, biographies, and historical and technical dance-related works on subjects such as anatomy, stretching exercises and dance technique, art (video for dance performance), career management and dance teaching.

*We use the Dewey Decimal System, as adapted to the dance world by the dance library at the École supérieure de ballet contemporain de Montréal

Loans and services
The media library is open to LADMMI teachers, students and graduates. Technical personnel, students of ADÉSAM member schools, Cégep du Vieux Montréal students and professional dancers may consult media library documents onsite for reference only.
*To obtain borrowing privileges, graduates must pay a $20 fee and show proof of residence. They may open or renew their membership, renewable yearly, free of charge, with proof of address, a year after graduating.

9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Closed from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

 

*Schedules are subject to change according to school production activities. It is highly recommended that off-campus students call before coming.
